Music therapists can benefit from the latest advances in software and sampling
The use of digital audio workstation (DAW) software and sample libraries are a way for musicians and producers to make music easily for instruments that they cannot play. This lets music therapists benefit from a higher range of high quality sounding instruments. If you can play the piano, you can “play” the sound of almost any sampled instrument, synth and percussion across a wide variety of genres. By expanding the range of sounds available to your clients, you may find a certain instrument or sound that produces a better outcome in therapeutic settings. We provide the following training for music therapists:
Bespoke training in the use of in free digital audio workstation software and instrumental/synth sample libraries. This includes full guidance and walkthrough of the setup process.
A demonstration of a variety of free and paid sample libraries, covering orchestral, pop, rock, jazz, world / cultural instruments, choirs / vocalists, percussion as well as electronics and synths, and show how you can play these instruments “live”!
How to translate your existing knowledge of music theory into the language of music instrument digital instrument (MIDI) notation within digital audio workstation software. It’s just digital sheet music essentially! You will learn to link MIDI notation with your sample libraries to make the notes you write sound like the instrument you want.
Demonstrate how and why this is inclusive from the perspective of someone with physical disabilities who is unable to play an instrument or keyboard.
Demonstrate how simple features such as the ability to input notes into the computer, as well as your ability to save and return at any time allows for the potential of development and improvement over time. If clients were able to use this software, it would also enable use outside of therapeutic sessions.
Discussions about how music therapy can be a useful therapeutic tool for the rare disease community.
